The Birth Play Project
Situation: The Birth Play Project is a dynamic theatrical production company specializing in creating performances centered around birth stories. With a unique and emotionally charged focus, the company needed a compelling visual identity to effectively attract a broader audience.
Task: I was tasked with creating a distinct and memorable visual identity for The Birth Play Project, encompassing a new logo and several posters for specific productions. These materials needed to communicate the power, emotion, and narrative depth that is at the heart of every production.
Design Approach:
I incorporated the concept of storytelling into the visual identity. This was achieved by the open-mouthed silhouette of a face included in the logo, appearing to almost scream the name of the company.
Symbolism was an important element of each poster and graphic. This required extensive conversation with the creative director of the company so that I could truly capture her vision with each piece.
For the production posters, I had to adapt each piece for the variety of contexts it would appear, including printed posters, promotional postcards, and social media graphics.
Conclusion: The new visual identity, including the logo and production posters, successfully conveyed the heart of The Birth Play Project's mission. The combination of emotive storytelling, symbolism created a lasting impression that helped fill the seats at each show.
